I think he was just pointing out that you can have a great rivalry without a completely even record. I don't think anyone would argue NU-CU is near the same level at OSU-UM (though I could argue that, for the Nebraska/Colorado fans, it feels every bit as intense and important many years) .
With rivalries I think the big thing is always "what have you done for me lately," not overall record. Michigan may have the lead, but OSU has dominated so thoroughly as of late that I imagine it brings little comfort to Wolverine fans. The Huskers have a ridiculous lead in their series with KU (which has been going on for over 100 straight years), but I guarantee every Nebraska fan feels that we're the ones out for redemption this year. |

Written by a Texas fan, this site had some of the best and funniest Big XII previews last year. Here is this year's take on Nebraska. Painful...but hilarious

heres the page with the rest of the league:
http://www.barkingcarnival.com/sailo...ion-collection I highly recommend the K-State preview. Ron Prince and Josh Freeman provide some great material. Quote:

I watched it. My thoughts:
-Joe Ganz picked up where he left off. He was almost perfect for the first 3 quarters, just ripping apart their secondary. He seemed to lose a little focus and threw a couple picks in the 4th, but we were well ahead at that point. -Cody Glenn, the former RB who changed to LB this offseason to help out in a position of need played better than anyone could have expected. He's going to get beat plenty this season since he isn't a veteran at the position, but he showed he can fly to the ball and has some good instincts. -Alex Henry kicked four 44yd field goals. That's an impressive (and odd) achievement in its own right. The crazy part? The Huskers only made three 40+yd field goals over the ENTIRE Callahan regime. You need only remember back to the Cotton Bowl to remember Cally's stupefying refusal to kick field goals outside of 30yds, no matter the situation. Still, that is a startling statistic. -The defense? Well we held them to 8 yds rushing. Part of it may have been the weakness of our passing defense (which gave up a lot of yards and big plays), but I really did like the way our d-line looked. We got some pressure and hit their runners in the backfield consistently. Also, no broken tackles. The pass defense will need to improve to give us a shot against the Missouri's and TT's, but it's a young unit so I expected as much. -Lucky had some nice plays, but the o-line was not nearly as dominating in the run game as you would like to see. We're going to need to step up our ability to run the ball as the season progresses, but for now Ganz seems capable of putting enough points up. We just need to be able to eat some clock up if we want to help a vulnerable defense. -Most important point: we won! And we made it look easier than I though it would be. I though maybe 10-14 point win, and we won my 23. Two more cupcakes (actually I think Western Michigan quite a bit better than either San Jose State or New Mexico State) to get some fixable things worked on. Then it gets tough... |

I wonder how well we would have done last year if Ganz started the whole year last year

Thanks Kid, that really worries me about the pass defense though, that's not good at all considering we play some damn good passing teams this year.

Well, if you can only play well for one quarter I guess the 4th is the one to choose. The first 45 minutes, though, were a cold dose of reality. Our offense is still capable of frustrating inconsistency. Our defense will still give up too many quick scoring drives.
The good? The defense actually played a lot better in the second half. Only 3 points allowed, and that FG was largely because of a turnover. Once Niles Paul gave us some breathing room, the offense started to look competent. Helu looked great, and might have moved in front of Lucky on the depth chart. Most importantly, the whole team did show the ability to finish strong. Obviously, not a great game. There were an inexcusable number of penalties, and the offense is going to have to be a hundred times more effective if we're going to bail the defense out against better teams. But we knew this team had some weaknesses, and with a new staff you have to assume there will be some stumbles. #3 Ohio State had an even closer call against Solich's Ohio Bobcats. College football is just like that these days, and a rebuilding team, like us, will be even more susceptible to these kinds of games. |

just read the recap of the game, sounds like we played like **** until the fourth. The only solace I take is that the sffub almost got beat by another Big Sky team.

Anyone know what happened to Evenrude? He was a great poster in this forum, but it has been almost half a year since he's been on. Maybe he called it quits here at the Mane, just didn't know if you guys had heard anything.

This thread needs a bump. How about Ganz and Lucky? I wonder what Lucky will play in the NFL? Im not sure he is strong enough for a RB but he would be a good dual threat player.

Hey NU fans, I came across this at this MWC board I frequent for updates about recruiting and such. Better than a lame Rivals board. Like I said, not a fan of either team but it is an interesting proposal.

I like the idea. Might be a fun minor rivalry to get started.
Bye week coming up. Get healthy and rested for our first prime time test against Va Tech. The Hokies haven't been all that impressive, but they have a solid defense, a dangerous freshman QB, and, of course, solid special teams. I'm really looking forward to it. It's almost a must win for us, given we have Mizzou and TT right afterward. |

The Cowboys coach is one of the guys I wanted before Cally. He is a Husker guy. On a side note did anyone see this?
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/colum...3&sportCat=ncf Ganz as the 10th best QB in the B12? Not sure I would agree with that. |
