Yep....Seems to be a pattern with Callahan coached teams. Kinda like the Super Bowl team that came back and quit on him going 4-12 in 2003. That is why I believe he was a horrible hire. As far as X's and O's go he might be a good football mind but when players quit on you it means you are a poor leader and leadership is the most important characteristic for a head coach by a long shot. You can always get OC's and DC's to do the X's and O's for you at a high level but you can't hire anybody to give you leadership. He was a high risk gamble that a traditional power like Nebraska had no business taking. Gambling on a guy like that is something that a non-football power does because they have to…not a Nebraska. |

Tard fight in Lincoln Saturday. Battle for the Basement of the B12 north. Who would have thunk it?
I have to imagine that the Husker fans here might like to have a few words with pederson and Cally. ![]() |

36 years down the drain. Second longest streak in college football, gone.
Will Callahan be back next year? |

It's one thing to lose to Oklahoma and Texas Tech in a competitive ball game and feel like the team is getting better. It's another to get throttled by Kansas. I was not even born the last time they lost to Kansas. The next record to go is going to be the 270+ consecutive sellouts. I still think he gets one more year, and in all fairness deserves one more year to try and turn things around .... but for the first time I am having my doubts. ![]() |

I'm gonna go with Evenrude on this one. This is the first loss I really was left doubting the coaches afterward. If Nebraska doesn't win one of the next two and misses going to a bowl again there will be a lot of pressure put on to fire Bill, but I can guarantee you he will get at least another year, which I think is fair.
Solich, you might remember, wasn't fired for not winning 10+ games every year. He was fired because we got blown out in all three losses. Texas, Missouri, and K-State (at home) all won by three touchdowns or more. I don't think firing him was wrong, nor was hiring someone with an offensive philosophy that was a lot different. People forget Nebraska wasn't strictly a power option team until the 90's. Anyway, Callahan has shown he can recruit. I have yet to see proof he can coach well. Hopefully the next couple games and next season will prove me wrong. |

I don't doubt they will get better when the players get more experience in the system and some of the recruits that have committed are pretty impressive but he has grossly underachieved in coaching ability on the field. You wouldn't expect competing for a national title in the second year after changing the offensive philosophy dramatically but you would expect a very competitive team that doesn't get blown out by anyone let alone by a pitiful program like Kansas. He will get another year and my guess things will get a little better but we have already seen that he is nothing more than a formula for mediocrity at best. You have to look no further than what Charlie Weis has done at ND to see what kind of impact really good coaching has....I've seen really good coaches and Bill Callahan you are not among them. |

To put a little perspective on this as to how outmanned Kansas is in talent compared to Nebraska....Kansas' last four recruiting classes had a total of just 2 Four Star players on their squad. Nebraska has 19 Four and Five Star players in their last four classes. To lose to a team that outmanned is unthinkable....to get blown out is beyond words. You are suppose to flush turds, not give them 3 or 4 years to stink up the place. |

Since recruiting evaluation doesn't mean anything to a smart guy like you, here is to you and your Sooners landing a bag full of 1 stars in this upcoming class. How bout you do me a favor. Since there really isn't any difference between several 4 and 5 star rated recruits and 1 and 2 stars rated players go talk to your boy Stoops and see if he will send my Hoosiers all five of those 4 Star players he has committed for 2006 and I will get Hep to send him five 2 and 3 star commits back his way. Stoops is probably a really smart guy like you and realizes that it is more than a fair deal as those ratings don't mean squat. You and your boy Stoops will still be right where you want to be and me and Hep will foolishly feel better about our chances in the future. Deal? |

Lehman: "Ranked as the sixth best player in the state by FirstDown Publications and also ranked as the 40th best linebacker in the nation and fifth best in the Midlands by Super Prep." Extremely high it appears. White: White was a turd that posted outstanding numbers because he had one of the greatest groups of WR talent ever put together at the college level. Clayton, Bradley, Jones and even Peoples were good enough to make anybody look good a QB. I don't know what he was rated but what ever it was it was probably too high for that wounded duck throwing QB. How bout Tommy Harris? I notice you didn't mention him. #1 rated DT in the country coming out of HS....that seems to have been fairly on target eh? As for this comment "I argue with dumbasses all day" I'm going to do you a favor and not tell your wife about that....If you don't shape up however, that may change. |

What about Dvoracek? BTW, I played against White in High School. He was an option QB that would kill you with the occasional long ball. Didn't throw ducks either...you are thinking of Ron Powlus. My wife would tell you the same thing I am about to...you are a douche bag! ![]() |
