A lot changes in 11 years. This is Obama's issue. He wanted this job, he needs to do it. This Iraq, the one falling apart is reality. Some people need to stop rehashing the last decade like it is suddenly going to fix the fact another nation is disintegrating under the current administration.

Most plans like the withdrawal from Iraq lands on more then one mans shoulders and likewise the decision to go to war. Both presidents had tremendous support. Both parties have showed countless times they are bafoons.

Burn it all down and rebuild it

Iraq requested airstrikes. Do it. They need munitions, intelligence reports, hospital ships? Do it. All aid short of putting our troops in? Do it. Obama likes using drones...well...ready made scenario. But he wont. He'll dick around with it, keep drawing red lines as he "talks" to the militants. Meanwhile Iraq begins to crumble completely. A new Islamic theocratic state gets set up using the cannibalized remains of Iraq and Syria.

And people will still try to blame Bush 43.

Not sure what everyone is having a problem with: Iraq is splitting along sectarian lines: Sunni's, Shiites, and Kurds. It was always going to happen. Let them get it over with.
Now it's our turn: let's put the Liberals on the east coast, the conservatives in the south, and all of us who hate all of those people can have the rest of the country. Simple.

Lolz, it's funny but there is a lot of truth in this statement. If you take a long term USA outlook the mission has been accomplished. We have a unfriendly part of the world in shambles in no position to unify and challenge us on any level. If you compare the cost to meet a modern Russian (or other civilized country) threat to that of dealing with terrorist threat it is a bargain.

Look at this from a 50 year in the future POV. Did it buy us more time to get an additional leg up on those beneath us?

Not saying it is right but people smart enough to be in the position of power do ask these questions.

What a horrifying idea. Isn't whats going on in Iraq terrible enough for you? Could you imagine the bloodbath that would occur if something like this were to come to pass?

I love liberals though. On the one hand they pretend they're the cultured, educated and enlightened ones. So superior to us stupid, hick racist conservatives. Then as soon as you disagree with them they are calling you names like idiot and using racial slurs like whitey. But they're not the emotional ones, folks!
They are rather....delicate.

Im going to go ahead and be "that guy".

The whole invasion of iraq and afgahnistan was unjustified because 9/11 was an inside job, truth. Do the research, building 7 my friends, building 7.

And yes, i served in the military for many years.

Flame on, but before you do. Do the research

This is nothing new. US pulled out of a country whose people didn't want to fight for the democracy/freedom our troops died in vain for. The opponent quickly filled the void. VIETNAM.

The whole thing was a bad idea to begin with. This is how I predicted this would end back in 2003 when we got into this. 11 years later, and here we are passing the buck of blame for an impossible mission.

It's not impossible though. It's just people lack the fortitude to do what is necessary. War means that every other measure to resolve a conflict has been exhausted. Every measure. So when it gets down to fighting, you kill them all.

I am not convinced Saddam would have survived the Arab Spring movement. Not saying that justifies anything, but I think what you're seeing in Iraq was inevitable.

Forget Dubya...Iím with you there. Itís in the past and thereís really nothing we can do about it now.

Your current solution? It wonít do. For one thing, it does nothing to help our relations in the region. Creates more enemies. More collateral damage, property and personal. Secondly, itís simply not enough. Band aid stuff.
