Can not believe this nonsense has gone on for 75+ posts. Champ is not going anywhere except back to LCB1 alongside Chris Harris. Eventually he will transition to safety just not this season. Our concern in regards to the secondary should be focused on Mike Adams replacement.

Comparable to what? He gets worse every year as a corner. Next year he may look like he did against Baltimore on a regular basis. That's what happens to aging corners, and that's why the more physical ones switch to safety.

In the end, it's one game. Hopefully a learning experience like '96 that teaches them what kind of an edge they need to come into a playoff game with. But there's no time to roll the dice on whether a young player could fill Champ's probowl shoes. Continuity also needs to be considered. |

He's just putting those out there that seem obvious. $9m for a 35yr old CB who was toast in the most important game of the year seems obvious. Nothing more to read there really. I would think we keep Champ, and keep him at CB, after he restructures. He's still a top CB in this league....but, it's time to start getting him safety help over the top when he's covering 4.3 guys. Hello!
What do you think about Deangelo Williams? Do you think we would trade for him? I would if he was willing to restructure his deal. Maybe a 4th if he'd restructure. Thoughts? |

not sure I agree with the bolded, but sure, he might look like he did for 1/17 of the time he played this past season or he might be closer to the 16/17 of last season. I'm guessing it's the latter. Bailey struggled covering one of the best deep receivers when he was isolated 1-on-1 against Balt, but outside of that Bailey was spot on for just about the entire NFL season. Good luck finding a CB comparable to that at a cheaper price.

Champ wouldn't hold up at SS. Put him at FS maybe.
He is physical for a corner. But I wouldn't necessarily call him physical as much as I would call him fundamental. |

Asking any CB to cover for as long as they were against fast recievers is asking for problems. Manning killed us in the playoffs way back. Then Mikey thought he fixed the problem by getting Champ. Next year Manning just went after the other weak links. Fixed that the following year and he burned us with the slot guy going crazy on the nickle back. What does tell anyone with half a brain you can have all pros covering guys but if the QB has all day to attack them someone is going to get open. The issue was not being able to get to or hurry Flacko. And that is not Champs job. Did he have a stellar game? No he did not But calls for cutting his pay or flat cutting him are premature at best. Having an experienced guy facing the QB reading his eyes could allow him to pick or pass defense all damned day. But it has to be his desire to do. He has to let go of what ever EGO he has and just make the decision known to JDR. But it has to be soon so the can scout CBs at the combine with earnest. |

James Cameron and Larry Page among others have invested in a asteroid mining venture. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-0...investors.html There is another company that doesn't have as much scratch that is going to try to mine them as well by 2015. http://www.foxnews.com/science/2013/...steroids-moon/ We should have been doing this for the last 50 years. Too bad our current society is more concerned with pretending it is 1778 and only worrying about how to make more and more money and keep their right to own and shoot their guns than they are interested in finding resources in our solar system. |
