Can you just imagine how many yards Barry Sanders would've had if he had a good O-line like Emmit Smith had

Peterson is a great runner, but extremely fast he is not. Chris Johnson is extremely fast, CJ Spiller and some others are also in that range but AD is a full notch (at least) below in pure speed.

No need to have the asterisk if Adrian breaks the record...Dickerson's 2,105 yards came in a 16 game season...he averaged 131.6 yards per game. Adrian is currently averaging 123.1 yards per game....which equates to a 1970 yards over 16 game season....he has a slim chance, but a chance nonetheless.

Adrian Peterson has 1,812 yards rushing with 2 games left in the season.
AD will hit 2,000 yards by averaging 94 yards per game. AD will pass Eric Dickerson by averaging 147 yards per game. |

Yes, you are being a homer.
TD did not "sit out" 3-4 games. It was, at best, 1 and a half games. Second, OJ did it in fourteen games, not 12, so it was two less. Dickerson played in the 16 game era. Quote:

The Vikings are my dad's favorite team and my second team so I have seen about 80% of AP's games since he was drafted and he is by far the best back I have ever seen. It is unbelievable how good he is.
