Default How Would You Stop a School Shooter

This school district’s plan to stop shooters: Arming students with a bucket of rocks

One schools superintendent has a novel way to keep his students safe from school shooters: arming them with rocks.

“Every classroom has been equipped with a five-gallon bucket of river stone,” Helsel explained about his Blue Mountain School District in Schuylkill County, northeast of Harrisburg, in a video broadcast by ABC affiliate 16 WNEP. “If an armed intruder attempts to gain entrance into any of our classrooms, they will face a classroom full of students armed with rocks, and they will be stoned.”

Another district had floated the idea of using golf balls, Helsel said, according Fox News, but that idea did not seem effective to him.

“Obviously a rock against a gun isn’t a fair fight, but it’s better than nothing,” he said. “I’m not sure why some people feel that it’s more appropriate to be a stationary target under a desk in a classroom rather than be empowered to defend yourself and provide a response to deter the entry of an armed intruder into their classroom.”

To Keep Students Safe, Oklahoma Is Using Bulletproof Storm Shelters At Elementary and Middle Schools

As schools look for ways to protect students and teachers from the terrifying possibility of an active shooter on campus, an Oklahoma public school district is suggesting they install bulletproof storm bunkers inside classrooms.

First reported by KOCO5 News, Healdton Public School have shelters that can fit 35 students and two teachers in the event of a shooting or deadly tornado. Seven have been installed in the town’s elementary school and two large ones at the middle school, district Superintendent Terry Shaw told Newsweek, adding that there are plans for at least two more at the local high school.

According to the snowflakes around here... School Teachers, coaches and faculty are too gutless and incompetent to save their own lives let alone student lives.

problem is most of these kneejerk "solutions" are predicated on the majority of human beings actually able to intercede in these types of situations behaving like this scott peterson fellow.

Bucket of Rocks? We have become a nation of snowflakes. I was reading an article about the decline of youth who don't even want to hunt or fish.

That's fine with me. More room in the woods and on the water.

It's going to be interesting to see how this country evolves when we have millions upon millions of people who don't even get outside anymore.

You got to admit it puts a whole new spin on getting stoned at school and sitting on the front porch with a bucket of rocks is not just for old geezers anymore.

Parents, are you worried about your child being at school with all the violence out there now? Never fear. Hear at RobCo, we are manufacturing "survival suits" that your child can wear to school and survive an active shooter situation! Here is little Timmy demonstrating our latest model:

Snark doesn’t help.

Taking away bump stocks obviously isn’t going to change anything. Time to start thinking bigger picture because it’s a big picture problem.

Talking about buckets of stones and bullet proof shelters is like solving the nuclear crisis in the 60's by talk of ducking under your desk. Those are survival tips - not realistic solutions to the core problem.

How about we stop school shooters by addressing the root cause of gun violence in america.

Close but no cigar.

Our uniquely American problem is that those a-holes have unfettered access to guns (highest per capita guns in society in the entire world), ineffective gun legislation and enforcement, a gun lobby that makes money off mass murders and guns pumped into a fearful population, mental health issues with no effective federal treatment / identification....

That is just for starters.

There is no root cause, there are root causes.

Taking away peoples guns may make leftists happy, but it doesn't address any of those causes.

What next? Are you going to confiscate boxes, wires, hooks, and all of the items used by the Austin kid to make bombs? Knives? Cars? Chemicals that can be used to create strong acids?

So. Many. Things.

The left just has a hard time wrestling with the reality that utopian leftist ideals are pipe dreams. You all are too busy trying to be gods. You'll never usher in an age where everyone lives euphorically in harmony, each apportioned a full life by the state. You all believe some weird, twisted politico-religious philosophy that resembles a childs drawing of Christianity. Its naive beyond reason.

You think that if you sacrifice someone else's stuff (weapons) to the god of good leftism that youll be rewarded from leftist heaven with peace and harmony.

That's exactly the opposite of what would happen if you started taking peoples guns wawy.

This type of thinking has one too many chromosomes. Like the “if we allow gay marriage then people will marry their cars” thinking

WRONG! We have gun laws. You shouldn't parrot words and phrases you don't understand kiddo.

Not a bad idea, maybe instead of a bucket of river stone. The teachers and students could have a bucket of marbles and a slingshot for protection.

FYI, I was pretty deadly with a slingshot when I was young but we used a very politically incorrect name for it back then that you would find offensive.

I'd make sure President Bone Spurs was on hand. He said he'd run in to stop a shooter whether he had a weapon or not. That's how you know he's super tough America guy.

Then we'll just need some razor wire fences, metal detectors, and a bomb response team there at the school.

Oh, wait, we're supposed to educate the kids in these prisons? Good one.

The problem is that the existing laws are too weak insofar as they allow nutjobs like your Cult 45 teammate in FL unfettered access to weapons of war.
