We upgraded from Tebow to Manning and some still feel it was a bad decision because Manning has a rep of not playing well in the cold.

That said, I still wish we had signed Dansby or drafted a MLB.

I should have worded the OP better because I can see how it might come across as a complaint. It's actually very impressive that we got 3 guys like that who have worked out so well. At the same time I'm lamenting what could have been for this D if they had also acquired Dansby, particularly since it appears to have been such a no-brainer.

the vast majority of our defenders are bargain basement ballplayers.

This seems to be stickied on my google chrome and matches up perfectly with what Elway has done in FA pick ups. Remember this next time you have to wonder...

There are 8 soccer managers who have a higher annual salary than Shanahan.

Although he's not on this "bargain team", how great a signing was Vasquez? Remember Chargers fans saying he wasn't that good? He hasn't been charged with a sack this season, and has the most snaps in the NFL of any player who can make such a claim.

I don't think anyone wasn't saying he wasn't good. It's just that he wasn't worth what other teams were going to pay him, with their current cap situation.

Looks like his run blocking has improved a bit this year but he was a poor run blocker in San Diego. He's always been a better pass blocker than run blocker so it's not a surprise that he hasn't given up a sack.

For me, my only issue with Elway has been the MLB and DT situation.
We signed Knighton, kept Vickerson, drafted Sly and M Jack so now it is somewhat of a strength moving forward.

MLB is still a work in progress. Woodyard when healthy was pretty good there but I would like a true MIKE in our defense. Someone who can QB the D.

The amount of success we have had in the draft and signing players since Elway took over is huge. He helped turn us around in a very short time.

What is it with you and this weird obsession with Champ? We get it, you think he sucks and is overpaid. He probably is but we don't need this in every thread.

He's still mad that Champ complained about his burger being over cooked at the Royal Palms.

Elway fixed DT, for the most part, not sure how you can hold that against him.

MLB and S have been strikes so far though. Need to do better there.

I just said the DT position is a strength moving forward. I am not holding that against him. I was pointing out the two issues I had with Elway overall.
Those two were it.

I would argue we need to add another DT. Vickerson and Knighton signed 2 year deals. Sly is Sly and Unrein and Fua don't deserve roster spots.

I'd personally draft another to upgrade both players. Can never have enough quality line depth and talent.

This. Champ could have gotten paid more if he signed somewhere else, and this is the first year he's missed the pro bowl on that contract.

I would argue Safety is an area he's trying to address with some success. Moore is a good player. And the position is deeper than it was when he took over. We just need one more good starter. It's not Elway's fault Vickerson, Moore, Carter, et al. were injured. I do agree that neglecting Mike is a ding against this front office.
