Default Greatest American Rock Group of All Time?

Longevity was obviously a major factor in selecting candidates.

However, feel free to write in your own...

Once again, longevity was a factor in the poll choices.

Thus, I didn't include bands or artists who flamed out prematurely, or whose careers only spanned one decade, etc.

lynyrd skynyrd only lasted like 7 years, that dog**** that reformed some 15 years after ronnie died doesn't count.

If longevity is the main factor, I go with the Beach Boys, or Santana.

Is Fleetwood Mac an American band, or a British band?

Most of its founding members are British (Bob Welch was American, IIRC). But it's hard to imagine Fleetwood Mac without Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham.

If longevity and record sales are considered, you have to put the Eagles in the conversation, right?
