They gave up a 1st rounder and 7th rounder this year and a 3rd or 4th rounder next year plus a new contract.

That's a lot to ask for a guy that at best had 967 yards receiving in 2011.
20 players had better numbers… |

He may be, but he will have to average for the next 17 seasons: 75 catches per year, 1150 yards per year and 10.5 TDs per year - that would roughly tie yards, catches and TDs in his career with Rice and they would both have done it in 21 seasons.

I suppose if he did that or even 3/4 of that it might be worth it. Still, trading a first for a receiver seems stupid. Didn't they learn from Branch? And this is one who gets migraines and sandy cooter if he doesn't get the ball. He does play special teams, but that still doesn't justify that kind of haul. Good on the Vikes, though.

That is an incredible haul for the Vikings, especially in a deep draft. Remember when Seattle traded a first for Deion Branch? Last year they hit on Kalil and Smith in round one, now they have the 23rd and 25th picks respectively. Jarius Wright will be their slot guy and Jerome Simpson #2. They need a true #1 WR. Greg Childs is coming off injury, but he ripped both knees apart last year. If they sign a guy in FA, they will still draft one high. They need a big-bodied guy who profiles as a #1. I'm thinking DeAndre Hopkins or Keenan Allen are mortal locks to the Vikes at either pick.
VIKINGS DRAFT HAUL 1st round – #23 (#23 overall) 1st round - #25 (#25 overall - from Seattle) 2nd round – #22 (#54 overall) 3rd round – #21 (#85 overall) 4th round – #5 (#101 overall – from Detroit) 4th round – #23 (#119 overall) 5th round – #22 (#150 overall) 7th round – #7 (#199 overall – from Arizona) 7th round – #23 (#215 overall) 7th round - #25 (#217 overall - from Seattle) |

that defense is gonna tell the story for the Hawks. Bradley may be gone but Quinn is no slouch and they lose no talent. SF vs Sea is going to be epic for the next 10+ years. |

Everyone laughed at Irvin and Wagner to the Seahawks. They laughed at Wilson. They also wondered why Brandon Browner (who used to be here) became a starter. People were like, "Richard Sherman who?" -- etc.
I think people can stop laughing at the Seahawks. They had 10 selections for the draft already and Papa Pete knew not all of them would take the team. They opted for a diverse playmaker who is a steady pro when they were likely to look at WR in the draft early anyways. Not that dumb of a move really. |

they actually stay healthy and make plays all the time. now Megatron might get up there in that discussion if he keeps beasting. but Rice is the Michael Jordan of his position in the NFL. it's the one thing you can't argue about who the best player at their position was(well maybe Ray Guy but punters don't matter in a GOAT discussion). |

He's young, he's a playmaker. Can he stay healthy and fit in? I think so. People get so enamored with pics that most of them bust out. Harvin can play ball.

Exactly. I'm a huge Wilson fan but it was that defense last year. I've felt it's going to be Seattle and Denver at the end of the year and it will be whichever D is the best. C'mon Elway!

which is exactly why i want them to fix the DT position and get either a C or G that can maul opposing defenders.

He could end up turning out to be the perfect complement to Russel Wilson. Plus harvin won't feel so "disrespected", because the Hawks sure gave up a hell of a lot for him. Should be interesting.

I am not sure if he is too much of a head case or just got fed up with Minnesota. He was under a lot of pressure last year because the Vikings would not give him the contract, The team has a ****ty QB,then he gets hurt. I think he'll be a great fit in Seattle.
